Prestbury St Marys

Admissions

The Prestbury St Mary's Federation is Voluntary Aided, supported by St Mary's Church. This means that the Governing Body is responsible for setting and applying the schools' admission arrangements. All applications are processed in line with the published policies and statutory guidance.

Families will normally receive their school admissions pack from Gloucestershire County Council (GCC)  in the autumn before their child is due to start at the Infant  School or transfer to the Junior School the following September. The application for a place should be applied for via GCC.

The Supplementary information Form (SIF) is required for those families applying under the church criteria, and this should be returned to the relevant school office.

Applications for places at other time are known as In-Year Admissions and are dealt with by the school directly (see below).

If you have any queries regarding admissions to St Mary's, please contact admissions@psm-school.co.uk

The Infant School administrator can be contacted at infantadmin@psm-school.co.uk

and the Junior School administrator at admin@psm-school.co.uk

In-Year Admissions

If you wish to apply for a place during the school year, this is known as an In‑Year
Admission. The St. Mary's Federation manages its own in-year admissions. To apply for a place please complete the In-year application form and return it to the relevant school office or by email.

If applicable, the form should be accompanied by a Supplementary Information Form (see above)

If multiple applications for the same year group are received at the same time, then the applications will be ranked according to the current admissions policy.

Parents will be notified in writing within 15 school days on the outcome of the application.

If your application is successful, you will receive a written offer from the school. The letter will include:

- confirmation of the place offered,

- the date by which you must accept or decline the offer,

- any next steps required (such as completing admission forms or arranging a start date).

Please ensure you respond within the stated timeframe so that the place can be secured. If we do not hear from you, the offer may be withdrawn in line with the School Admissions Code.

If the application is refused, then the reasons for refusal will be given in writing. There is a legal right to appeal the decision and the papers can be obtained from the relevant school office.(see below)

Appeals

If your child is refused a place, you have the legal right to appeal the decision to an Independent Appeals Panel and this will be arranged in line with the School Admissions Appeals Code. Please contact the relevant school administrator for an Appeals Form which should be returned to the school when completed.

For places allocated as part of the normal admissions round (i.e in April) we would appreciate it if the Appeals Forms were returned to school by 20th May; the Appeal Hearings will take place in June/July.

Appeal Hearings for all other admissions (i.e in-year admissions) can take place at any time and the forms should be returned to school as soon as possible.

Appeal Hearings are completely independent of the school and the Governing Body. The panel will consider your case and the school’s case before making a final decision.

See www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/schooladmissions/information-on-admission-appeals/  for further information.
